About Aotearoa People's Network (APN)
The Aotearoa People’s Network is about providing free
access to broadband internet services in public libraries so that all
New Zealanders can benefit from creating, accessing and experiencing
digital content.
It is funded by the Community Partnership Fund of the New Zealand’s Digital Strategy and by other government funding through the National Library of New Zealand.
Who will benefit from APN?
The Aotearoa’s People’s Network will benefit anyone who has
access to a public library – it will open up the digital world to all
people
and communities by giving them access to the web, providing computers
and training. Libraries and their staff will also benefit as they build
their skills and knowledge of the online world, becoming online
experts, and in turn share this knowledge with their customers.
When and where is APN happening?
The Aotearoa People’s Network operates
in phases - library applications are called for, applications are
approved and installations are scheduled.
Initially, 34 libraries and 13 local authorities (Phase 1)
were involved in
the rollout which took place between November 2007 to May 2008.
See our Partners page for information on phases and partner
libraries.
Keeping libraries updated
The Aotearoa People’s Network is a significant project and
we will keep you updated through this website. This is part of the
People’s Network project group’s commitment to keeping libraries
informed and updated.
How does my library get involved
